Presenter: Morris Smith “Investing for the Long Term: Compounding – Why and How”

Morris Smith began his professional career in 1982 as an analyst at Fidelity Investments where he covered lodging, gaming and all of the housing-related industries. After several years he was promoted to manager of the Fidelity Select Leisure Fund and then the Fidelity Over-the-Counter Fund. In 1990, Morris was selected to take over for Peter Lynch in managing Fidelity’s largest and most successful fund at the time, the Magellan Fund. Magellan posted very strong returns and assets under management grew from $13b to $20b before Morris retired from Fidelity in 1992. After leaving Fidelity, Morris moved with his family to Israel to pursue religious studies. He and his family now reside in New York where he spends his time studying, managing his personal capital, and working with various charitable organizations. Morris received his undergraduate degree from Queens College and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
